Service-Disabled Veterans’ Insurance (S-DVI).  Insurance Coverage Eligibility.   $10,000 S-DVI is available in a variety of permanent plans, as well as term.  To qualify for S-DVI, you must:  • Have received a rating for a “new” service-connected condition in the past two years.  • Be in good health, except for your service-connected conditions.  • Be discharged from service on or after April 25, 1951 under other than dishonorable conditions.  An increase of a previous rating or a rating of Individual Unemployability does not qualify.  Premiums can be waived on the $10,000      S-DVI Insurance under certain conditions.  To qualify for waiver, you must be:
• Totally disabled for six consecutive months.  • Under age 65.  Up to $30,000 of additional coverage may be purchased through Supplemental S-DVI.  To qualify for Supplemental S-DVI, you must:
• Apply within one year of having your premium waived on S-DVI.   • Pay premiums on the supplemental coverage.
