More About the Portland Regional Office

Serving Veterans Who Are Homeless at VA’s Community Resource and Referral Center (CRRC)

The Portland RO is reaching more Veterans who are homeless through the CRRC, one of just a handful of such centers open around the country. Once a week, our RO Homeless Outreach Coordinator works alongside other VA service providers at the CRRC to provide Veterans with benefits counseling, eBenefit accounts, and claims advice. The CRRC is located in downtown Portland at 308 SW 1st Ave. (Oak Street MAX stop).

Assisting Veterans on Campus Through VetSuccess on Campus (VSOC)

The Portland RO launched the VSOC program at Portland State University (PSU) and Portland Community College (PCC). The program places counselors on both the PSU and PCC campuses to help ease Veterans’ transition to student life and assist them in achieving their educational and career goals through VA’s Post-9/11 GI Bill and other education benefit programs. The counselors maintain close relationships with local VA Vet Centers, VA medical facilities, and the RO, referring Veterans for counseling or medical services as needed and providing assistance in applying for VA medical and nonmedical benefits.
