About the Transformation Plan
The VA Claims Transformation initiative is a series of people-focused process and technology-centered improvements designed to achieve our goal of processing all claims quickly and accurately, and provide world-class customer service while offering beneficiaries improved access to the benefits they have earned.
Focused in the arm of VA primarily responsible for financial benefit programs, the Veterans Benefits Administration, the Transformation Plan is driven by an underlying commitment to excellence and continuous improvement. It is part of VA's lifetime engagement with Veterans and their families, their survivors, Service members, National Guard, and Reservists. This service spans the time a Service member dons the uniform through discharge, transition, and throughout his or her civilian life.
A hallmark of a collection of modernization initiatives under the Transformation Plan is the shift from internal paper-based claims processing to an automated paperless process that integrates the improved claims process and Web-based technology. This is coupled with improved automation services for the use of Veterans and other beneficiaries though VA's My-eBenefits portal. Read more about My-eBenefits here.
This Transformation is allowing VA to improve productivity in claims processing and reallocate resources to increased outreach and other services to continue to improve access to Veterans on their terms -- where they live, or electronically, when they choose.
