VA’s Detroit Regional Office (RO) administers a variety of services, including Compensation, Pension, and Veteran Readiness and Employment for Veterans, Servicemembers, their families and survivors in Michigan. We offer the following additional services:

  • Counseling about eligibility for VA benefits and how to apply
  • Information about VA health care and memorial benefits
  • Outreach to Veterans, including those who are homeless or at risk for homelessness and older, minority, and women Veterans
  • Public affairs

Addressing Homelessness in the Detroit Metro Area

The Detroit RO Homeless Veterans Outreach Coordinator (HVOC) attends monthly meetings with the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and Veterans Health Administration to address homelessness among Veterans in the Detroit Metro area. The HVOC also attends annual and semiannual conferences, both within the state and nationally, that address the topic of homelessness among Veterans.

Supporting Veterans Treatment Courts

The RO’s Veterans Service Center continues to support Veterans Treatment Courts in the greater Detroit area. The Veterans Treatment Court point of contact (POC) maintains a working relationship with members of various Veterans courts throughout Michigan. The POC provides necessary information to judges and Veterans Justice Outreach Coordinators about Veterans’ status, character of discharge, pending claims, receipt of benefits, and other details.
