Meet Our Leadership Team
Director: Emmett O'Meara
Mr. Emmett O’Meara was appointed Director on November 26, 2018. He has also served as the Assistant Director of the Los Angeles VA Regional Office. Mr. O'Meara is responsible for administering a range of benefits to the Veterans and their families living in the jurisdiction of the Los Angeles office. Prior to this appointment, Mr. O’Meara served as the Veterans Service Center Manager at the Los Angeles VA Regional Office.
Assistant Director: Jamie Cannon
Jamie Cannon became the Assistant Director of the Los Angeles VA Regional Office in April 2019. In this role, she is responsible for the administration of benefits for our Veterans in compensation and Veteran employment. The role requires engagement and collaboration with various stakeholders in the community. Prior to this appointment, Ms. Cannon was the Veterans Service Center Manager at the Los Angeles VA Regional Office. Ms. Cannon has over two decades of experience with the VA.
Support Services Division Chief: Brandon Robinson
Brandon Robinson accepted the SSD Chief Position with the Los Angeles Regional Office in December 2020. Prior to accepting this position Mr. Robinson served as a Management Analyst in the Pacific District Office. Brandon has an array of Support Services experience, previously serving as a Systems and Procedures Analyst at VBA Central Office in the Office of Financial Management (OFM), where he was responsible for providing support, oversight, and guidance to the Support Service Divisions in all 56 VBA Regional Offices throughout the country.
Veterans Service Center Manager: James Barrett
James Barrett was appointed Veterans Service Center Manager at the Los Angeles VA Regional Office (RO) in October 2023. Mr. Barrett joined the VA in July 2009 as a Veterans Service Representative at the Indianapolis RO. He served in several positions, such as Authorizer, Intake Analyst, Assistant Coach and Coach in the Indianapolis RO. James was an Assistant Veterans Service Manager at the Los Angeles VA Regional Office prior to his current appointment. He has been part of the Regional Office’s mass hiring initiatives that have raised the current VSC staffing to 388 employees. When he is not working, he enjoys attending Church in his community, spending time with family and grandkids, and lifting weights. James is a retired Army Veteran.
Veteran Readiness and Employment Officer: Eric Costello
Eric Costello was appointed Veteran Readiness and Employment Officer (VREO) in October 2023 at the Los Angeles Regional Office. Prior to this appointment, he served as the Assistant VREO (AVREO) in the LA Regional Office since 2021. Mr. Costello started his career with the VA in June 2015 at the Los Angeles Regional Office. He served as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor (VRC) until 2018, when he was promoted to Supervisory VRC.
Benefit and Eligibility Support Team (BEST) Manager: Don Snider
Donald Snider was appointed as BEST Manager of the Los Angeles VA Regional Office (RO), effective January 2024. Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Snider served as the Chief of Pre-Discharge Programs for Compensation Service in Washington DC. Mr. Snider is a proud Navy Veteran serving 8 years in the United States Navy in the Submarine Force. After leaving the military to pursue his educational goals, he spent 5 years in academia and the non-profit sector. Mr. Snider began his career as a Veterans Service Representative in 2009 and has one child.
