NEW E-MAIL PROCEDURE FOR VA FORM 26-8937
VERIFICATION OF VA BENEFITS
 

Effective immediately, lenders may now submit VA Form 26-8937, Verification of VA Benefits to the Phoenix Regional Loan Center by e-mail! Please note that lenders must purchase and use the full version of Adobe Acrobat 8.X (or later version) that has Adobe Acrobat Writer or PDF Publisher capability to use these electronic forms in their "fillable" format. Please contact your software vendor for procurement and installation details.

The Advantages? Using the forms in their "fillable" format enables you to save the form locally, complete it electronically, and send it to VA by e-mail. The veteran's name should appear in the e-mail Subject line. We will process the form electronically and return it to you by e-mail. No need to wait for the mail or visit VA! This will provide the best and most timely customer service to you and the veterans we serve together. Simply download the form below:

If you want only to view the form and print out a hardcopy for processing by regular mail or fax, you may download from http://www.adobe.com a free copy of the Adobe Reader 9.X software, which is needed to view/print the forms.

The lender will be responsible for having an original VA Form 26-8937 signed by the veteran. You must submit the signed form if the full package is requested by VA for full review.

There should no longer be any need to obtain your signed Verification of VA Benefits form by visiting the Regional Loan Center. If you have a special situation, call us. We may be able to work out a solution which will save you a trip.

On every VA loan, ask the veteran and any veteran co-obligors (including spouse if a veteran) if he or she:

  1. Is receiving VA disability benefits
  2. Would be entitled to receive VA disability benefits but for the receipt of retired pay
  3. Has received VA disability benefits in the past, or
  4. Is a surviving spouse of a veteran who died on active duty or as a result of a service-connected disability
  • If the veteran answers "yes" to one of the above questions, submit a VA Form 26-8937, Verification of VA Benefits, to the VA office where the loan application and/or closed loan package will be sent. VA will complete and return the form to the lender. 
  • If the form indicates that the applicant receives nonservice-connected pension or has been rated incompetent by VA, the loan cannot be closed automatically. Submit the loan for prior approval. 
  • If the veteran answers "no" to all of the above questions, you do NOT need to submit VA Form 26-8937. 
  • Fill out the form completely. Be sure the lender name and address is legible. If mailed back to you, this is the address that will appear in the window envelope. Be sure the form is signed by the veteran. 
  • If you submit the VA Form 26-8937 when the loan is originated, you will easily receive the response in time for closing. Do not wait until the last minute.
