VA’s Cleveland Regional Office (RO) administers a variety of services, including Compensation, Education, Insurance, Loan Guaranty, Pension, and Veteran Readiness and Employment for Veterans, Servicemembers, their families and survivors in Ohio’s 88 counties. We offer the following additional services:

  • Counseling about eligibility for VA benefits and how to apply
  • Information about VA health care and memorial benefits
  • Outreach to Veterans, including those who are homeless or at risk for homelessness and older, minority, and women Veterans
  • Public affairs
  • Assistance with applying for Specially Adapted Housing grants
  • Administration of VA’s Home Loan Guaranty program for Connecticut, Delaware, Indiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont

Operating VA’s Home Loan Guaranty Program for Veterans in 13 States

The Cleveland RO is one of eight VA Regional Loan Centers (RLCs) administering VA’s Home Loan Guaranty program, which helps Veterans obtain mortgage loans from private lenders by guaranteeing a portion of the loan against loss. This program can also prevent Veterans from losing their homes during temporary financial difficulties. We serve Veterans in these 13 states: Connecticut, Delaware, Indiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont. We also assist with delinquent VA loans on a nationwide basis.

Serving Student Veterans

As one of three original pilot sites, we are proud that the Cleveland RO helped pioneer VA’s Veteran Readiness and Employment (VetSuccess on Campus) program, which provides one-on-one employment counseling and related support to Veterans with service-connected disabilities. Our VR&E counselor, based at Cleveland State University, provides comprehensive benefit counseling services to student Veterans. Since inception, the VetSuccess program has expanded to both The Ohio State University and the University of Cincinnati.

Enhancing VA’s Customer Service with the National Call Center

The Cleveland RO houses one of nine VA National Call Centers, which centralizes phone inquiries and allows employees to focus on serving Veterans. The number to call is 1-800-827-1000.
