Astrid A. Perez-Renta

Director:  Astrid A. Perez-Renta

Astrid A. Perez-Renta was appointed as Director of the Hartford VA Regional Office in November 2020. As the Director, she is responsible for leadership and oversight of all Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) operations. She is responsible for administering approximately 452 million in annual federal benefits payments to 29,747 Veterans and their families living in Connecticut. These benefits include compensation, pension and Veteran readiness and employment entitlements.  

Kirsten Swanson

Veterans Service Center Manager: Kirsten Swanson

Kirsten Swanson was selected as Veterans Service Manager of the Hartford VA Regional Office in December 2022. As, the Veterans Service Manager, she is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Veterans Service Center. Kirsten began her career in May of 2007, after being selected as a Veterans service representative. She graduated from Hilbert College, with a bachelor’s degree in law and government. She went on to further her education in 2015 by obtaining a master’s degree in public administration.

Charleen Fischer

Veterans Readiness and Employment Officer: Charleen Fischer

Charleen Fischer was appointed as the Veterans Readiness and Employment Officer of the Hartford Regional Office in July of 2019. She began her VA career as an employment coordinator for the Veterans Health Administration in Connecticut. In 2016, she transferred to the Hartford RO to work as a vocational rehabilitation counselor.
