Director: D'Laija S Francis-Abdullah
D'Laija S. Francis-Abdullah was appointed as the Newark Regional Office Director in May 2021.
Mrs. Francis-Abdullah served as the Chief Officer of the New York Regional Office's Veterans Readiness & Employment Service, and served in this capacity since September 2017. She serves as a professional, technical consultant and expert to staff members in the areas of rehabilitation counseling, testing and evaluation, job placement and independent living and other educational plan developments for disabled Veterans, Servicemembers, beneficiaries and dependents receiving VA Benefits.
Mrs. Francis-Abdullah joined the Department of Veterans (VBA) in June 2002, serving as a Rehabilitation Technician under the Student Career Experience Program. During this time, she gained the knowledge of policy, regulations and procedures related to the administration of the program.
Mrs. Francis-Abdullah is a proud mom of a wonderful daughter and active community member. She is also the spouse of a Navy Veteran. She lives the ICARE Core Values and Characteristics and believes that each person is a value added to our society, which is why she holds VBA's programs, mission and goals dear to her heart.
