More About the Newark Regional Office

Housing a Community-Based Outpatient Clinic

The New Jersey RO is working to reach more Veterans by collaborating with the VA New Jersey Health Care System to house a Community-Based Outpatient Clinic. In operation since 2001, the clinic allows VA to register Veterans and perform certain types of exams. Conveniently located on the first floor adjacent to the information desk, clinic staff provide medical services to the Veterans in the community by appointment. Open during the week from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., the clinic is staffed by a Practice Manager who can accept applications, input Veterans’ applications, schedule appointments, and make referrals to other VA medical facilities. A nurse or nurse practitioner also performs medical examinations and writes prescriptions.

Operating a Newark Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery Center

The RO also hosts the VA New Jersey Heath Care System’s Newark Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery Center, which is staffed by health care providers and social workers and is where Veterans can go for monitored group activities.
