The Waco RO is committed to assisting Veterans who have experienced sexual trauma or harassment while on active duty. A Women Veterans Coordinator (WVC) is available at the Waco RO arrange counseling for any Veteran—male or female—who has experienced these traumas. The WVC also makes presentations to female Veterans’ organizations and other groups concerning VA benefits and services for women.
We also make a special effort to reach former prisoners of war and their dependents by holding numerous outreach meetings throughout the RO’s service area. Our POW Coordinator organizes the events and provides in-depth briefings about VA benefits for former POWs. An information packet is also available to provide guidance on VA disability, death, and medical benefits.
Waco RO employees are also committed to achieving the national goal of ending homelessness among Veterans by the end of 2015. We serve on homeless coalitions, participate in Stand Downs, and provide homeless shelters and agencies with VA benefits information and assistance. A Homeless Veterans Outreach Coordinator is also assigned full time to the Dallas VA Medical Center to help provide comprehensive services to Veterans who are homeless.
To encourage awareness and use of VA benefits, the Minority Veterans Program Coordinator (MVPC) for the Waco RO makes presentations to minority Veterans groups and other organizations. VA benefits information and claims assistance are provided at Veteran outreach seminars and town hall meetings at various locations throughout the Waco RO service area.
