Verifying Funding Fee Exemption Status

Verification of VA Benefit-Related Indebtedness
How do I get a 26-8937 completed by VA?
Determine which state the property is located in, then fax completed form to the appropriate RLC:
By leaving your mouse cursor on a state, without clicking, you will see all of the states supported by that particular Regional Loan Center.
What is VA Form 8937 used for?
Veterans give the completed form to their lender when they are buying a home, to serve as evidence that they receive disability compensation, have a non-service-connected-pension, or have been rated by VA as incompetent.
Do all VA loans require an 8937?
No. As of September 8th, 2011, a veteran's Certificate of Eligbility now indicates the funding fee exemption status, and can be used as a direct substitution for the VA form 26-8937. In some cases, the Certificate of Eligibility will refer the lender or veteran to the Regional Loan Center (RLC) of jursidiction in order to determine exemption status. In that case, please submit the 26-8937 form to the correct RLC, as specified in the above graphic.
What is the most common reason to request an 8937?
Most veterans injured as a result of their active duty service do NOT pay a VA funding fee.
